We have Java Edition at home!
Update:
I returned to this project! I'm planning on releasing a small distro as a proof-of-concept soon. It boots and runs well, so far. Unfortunately getting rendering to work has been extremely buggy for me, but my newest kernel image is here if you want to try. Bootstrap whatever distro you want as ppc64 and load it through your
kboot.confas a second partition rootfs. Only ext support is compiled-in.
Prevents online-mode from breaking multiplayer and removes unessecary warnings about system memory when running on an Xbox 360 (...and regular 'older' systems).
This is especially important, because going through all of the very slow intial loading of the server only to realise you forgot to disable online-mode is... very fun!
Why?
...I have no idea.
How?
Thanks to recent developments in Xbox 360 modding, you can essentially run a fully playable Minecraft server on any Xbox 360 by using two USB sticks. Beta 1.7.3 sends a few annoying messages about memory, even though the 360 has more than enough to run this.
No modchip is required to run a server.
This requires a slightly more complex setup than what my guide creates, as I couldn't build for JDK 6. If you get a newer Linux kernel or JDK running, you can install this mod via Ornithe.
