New Content
Sculk Melon
- Obtainment: Sculk Melon Slices or Seeds have a chance to appear in loot chests of the "Ice Cellar" in Ancient Cities; Plant Sculk Melon Seeds in environments with light level < 10. Sculk Melons take longer to mature than regular melons and cannot be accelerated.
- Basic Uses: Can be crafted into corresponding slabs and stairs; Right-click to eat like regular melons, consuming 1/4 of the block each time (slabs and stairs are also edible via right-click); Supports waxing/wax removal and interaction logic with HQ melon knife same as other melons; Use shears to convert Sculk Melon Blocks into Carved Sculk Melons, which can also interact with light source blocks or be crafted into Sculk Melon Lamps.
- Sculk Status:Effects: Temporarily disables nearby Sculk Sensors and Sculk Shriekers; If there are already spawned Wardens nearby, they will be temporarily immobilized (no enemy targeting, no counterattack when attacked); Disabled entities will resume functionality when the effect ends or when the player moves more than 8 blocks away.
- Obtainment: Right-click to eat Sculk Melon Blocks or related items to randomly gain 5~10 seconds of Sculk Status; Brew Sculk Potions using Sculk Melon Blocks and Awkward Potions, then extend the duration with Redstone Dust; Sculk Potions can be crafted into Splash, Lingering versions or Arrow of Sculk.
- Sculk Melon Helmet: Use shears on a half Sculk Melon Block to get a Sculk Melon Rind; Use shears on a Carved Sculk Melon to get a Carved Sculk Melon Helmet; Wearing it temporarily disables nearby Sculk Sensors and Sculk Shriekers (no effect on already spawned Wardens).
Ender Melon
- Obtainment: Beetroot Seeds in End City loot chests are now replaced with Ender Melon Slices and Seeds; Ender Melons have a chance to spawn in End City corridors or rooftops; Ender Melon Vines need to be planted under End Stone and grow upside down similar to Glow Berries—90% chance to grow one block longer, 10% chance to produce an Ender Melon when growing.
- Basic Uses: Can be crafted into corresponding slabs and stairs; Right-click to eat like regular melons, consuming 1/4 of the block each time (slabs and stairs are also edible via right-click, and can be eaten even when hunger is full); Supports waxing/wax removal and interaction logic with HQ melon knife same as other melons; Use shears to convert Ender Melon Blocks into Carved Ender Melons, which can also interact with light source blocks or be crafted into Ender Melon Lamps.
- Ender Symbiosis Status: Effects: Press W to teleport towards the line of sight (maximum distance related to effect level, cannot teleport into water) with a 5-second cooldown; Immune to Levitation; Takes continuous damage and random teleports when in water or rain; Immune to projectiles.
- Obtainment: 50% chance to randomly gain 5~10 seconds of Ender Symbiosis when right-clicking to eat Ender Melon Blocks or related items—repeated consumption that grants the effect extends duration and level; If the level exceeds 19 (corresponding to Ender Symbiosis II), the effect becomes permanent (cannot be removed by Milk or Honey Bottles, only removable by respawning); Brew Ender Symbiosis Potions using Ender Melon Blocks and Awkward Potions (extend duration with Redstone Dust, increase level with Glowstone Dust); Repeated consumption of Ender Symbiosis Potions will not further increase the effect level; Potions can be crafted into Splash, Lingering versions or Arrow of Ender Symbiosis.
Jalamelon
- Obtainment: No obtainable methods in this version; Only available via commands or Creative Mode inventory.
- Basic Uses: Can be crafted into corresponding slabs and stairs; Right-click to eat like regular melons, consuming 1/4 of the block each time (slabs and stairs are also edible via right-click, and can be eaten even when hunger is full); Supports waxing/wax removal and interaction logic with HQ melon knife same as other melons.
- Interactions & Effects: Use Flint and Steel to ignite Jalamelons, generating cross or straight flames based on the remaining part of the melon; Right-click to eat or consume Jalamelon Slices to gain the Jala Status.
Other Additions
- Enchanted Melon Plants: Now players can plant Enchanted Melon Slices (requires Croparium mod as a prerequisite).
- Melon Lamp Light Source Updates: Added Redstone Torches, Copper Torches, Copper Lamps, Copper Lanterns, and three types of Frog Lights as light sources for Carved Melon Lamps (note: Waxed Copper Lamps or Lanterns cannot be used);
- Redstone Torch Melon Lamps will extinguish when activated by Redstone signals (like other Carved Melon Lamps, they are only decorative blocks and do not output any Redstone signals);
- Copper Melon Lamps crafted by combining various Copper Lamps with Melon Lamps have the same function as the original Leshi Dong Blinking Melon Lamps (changes on/off state when receiving Redstone signals).
Changes
Mechanics Adjustments
- When breaking Melon Blocks without Silk Touch enchantment on the off-hand tool, the number of dropped Melon Slices is no longer affected by Fortune but also no longer affected by explosion attenuation.
- Due to the symmetrical texture of new Melon Lamps on all four sides, all Melon Lamps have been adjusted from Y-axis rotation to no rotation attribute.
- Redstone-related Melon Lamps now use block states to execute various logics instead of the original block entity data (improves performance when using a large number of these lamps).
- Added sneaking right-click interaction with Melon Lamps—for better experience, Melon Lamps now drop their original form without requiring Silk Touch; To separate the Melon Lamp shell from the internal light source block, simply right-click the Melon Lamp while sneaking with an empty hand or holding an item that cannot be placed into the Melon Lamp.
- Redstone Dust is no longer required in the crafting recipe for Leshi Dong Melon Lamps.
- Optimized the logic of Melon Rinds and Carved Melon Helmets repelling Phantoms.
Visual Improvements
- Melon Lamps: The internal torch models in Torch-equipped Melon Lamps all adopt a style similar to the new Redstone Torch model (larger flame volume compared to the original torch model); Full-block light sources in Melon Lamps now appear larger.
- Enchanted Melons: Optimized the flickering light effect of Enchanted Melon Blocks (the enchanted glow effect in the inventory is now consistent with the placed block); Light level adjustment: Full Enchanted Melon Blocks have a light level of 3, while incomplete ones (slabs, stairs, etc.) have a light level of 10.
- New Melon Flesh Texture: Updated to a new melon flesh texture.
Technical
- Added item tags:
#qa\_better\_melon:cause\_to\_hunger(Marks foods that may cause hunger when eaten) #qa\_better\_melon:cause\_to\_sculk(Marks foods that grant "Sculk Status" when eaten)#qa\_better\_melon:cause\_to\_ender(Marks foods that grant "Ender Symbiosis Status" when eaten)
Fix
- Fixed the issue where eating sliced raw melons could not trigger the hunger effect.
